The
Karoo is a vast semi-
desert region of
South Africa. It is made up of two sub-regions, these being the
Great Karoo in the north and the Klein
(Little) Karoo in the south. The 'High' Karoo is one of the distinct physiographic provinces of the larger South African Platform division. The Karoo National Park is home to many endangered species, including the black rhinoceros, the riverine rabbit and the quagga, which has been brought back from extinction.
