It is a very central place to stay if you want to take day excursions into the Northern Drakensberg. It is a mere hour from the Golden Gate National Park.

Northern Drakensberg
The time we spent in the area was really wonderful. The scenic drive through the area made the long 4 hour drive seem to fly by in minutes, and as soon as we got the Drakensberg Mountain Retreat i was completely sold. I would recommend every South African who can, to visit the area at least once in their lifetime.

Northern Drakensberg
Roads past Sterkfontein dam in desperate need of major repair. Drakensberg looked magnificent - when weather permitted us to see it!
