Plettenberg Bay Accommodation
Plettenberg Bay is a great small town on the Western Cape’s famed Garden Route. You can drive there from Cape Town in about 6 hours and there is plenty to do, making Plett accommodation highly desirable.
The town lies just off the N2, on a coastline boasting kilometres of white sandy beaches and surrounded by crags, making for great walking. In addition, the ocean is warm here and the weather is good all year ‘round. Basically if you’re looking for a beautiful location in which to relax for a few days, Plettenberg Bay is it. That’s not all Plett has to offer though!
It happens to be a great place for animal lovers and children, as there are various wildlife sanctuaries in the vicinity, ranging from Monkeyland to Birds of Eden and the Knysna Elephant Park. If you want to combine your animal encounters with a bit of adventure, take a boat trip into the bay to get a glimpse of the whales which enter the protected waters of the bay to breed each year.
The Garden Route is a lovely area with numerous hikes and mountain bike tracks, all easily accessible from Plett. At the end of a long hike or bike-ride, when you’re too tired to cook, be sure to pop into town so sample some of Plettenberg Bay’s great restaurants - favourite being The Lookout Deck. What it lacks in ‘gourmet’ it makes up for in setting!
If you’re not into ‘beaching’, and animals aren’t your thing either, you could go the adventure activity route, with sky-diving, bungee-jumping and canopy tours all available nearby. Rock up between December and March, when the town is full to bursting for the summer holidays, and Plett can even offer you a bit of a club scene!
If all this appeals to you, then you should consider booking accommodation in Plett sooner rather than later - it’s a great place to unwind, and a lot of people know it!
