Pretoria Accommodation
Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa is also known as Tshwane, as it falls under the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. While it is just 55 kilometres from the flashing lights of Johannesburg, it only gets a fraction of the attention. This is probably owing to its comparatively sleepy nature and lack of any gripping tourist attractions. However, there can be no denying that Pretoria sees a lot of business being done, especially as a number of government departments are based there. This makes it a hot-spot for travelling business people. If you do need to make a stop in there, don’t worry because there is a lot of great accommodation in Pretoria.
Having said that, Pretoria is not entirely devoid of culture, nor is it an unpleasant place to pass a day or two. The city is set in a grid pattern, making it easy to get around, and many of the wide streets are lined with Jacaranda trees, turning the whole city shades of purple come spring time. There are numerous green spaces to veg out in, such as the Pretoria Zoo and Pretoria Botanical Gardens. There are couple of small nature reserves just outside the city too which make for great walks and bike rides. A little Further afield lies the Kruger National park, home to the Big 5.
Pretoria has a long and interesting history, which is reflected in the architecture. Buildings range from British Colonial to Art Deco style! Given a little historical background, some of Pretoria’s sites come to life, such as the Voortrekker Monument and the Union Buildings. The city also has many museums, one of the renowned ones being the Transvaal Museum, which houses the Sterkfontein fossil, extracted from the Cradle of Humankind.
Back to the present day, Pretoria has a healthy culinary scene, brightening up any stay, whether for business or leisure. A renowned meal followed by a comfy bed in Tshwane accommodation (aka Pretoria accommodation) makes for an experience which could be a lot worse!
