The wilderness area is simply the best in terms of recreation. We are avid mountain bikers and we would like to see hiking trails also be opened to cyclists. Cycling in the forests are simply sublime, its cool and the foliage screens out a lot of the sun.

We spent a wonderful 3 nights in Wilderness, enjoying the natural beauty of the area as well as it's selection of great restaurants. There are several well maintained short hikes in the vicinity. We spent a morning doing the 7,5km Half Collared Kingfisher Trail which follows the Touw River until it reaches a waterfall with some large pools at the bottom which are great for a refreshing swim. Had some lovely sightings of Knysna Loeries in flight in the forests. Next time I think we'll be tempted to try paragliding which is popular in the area. Would have liked to stay longer !

I have been to Wilderness many, many times and will always return. I would love to purchase property in the area and hopefully this will happen soon.......wow this place is gorgeous.
