Gardens Guesthouse is situated next to the world famous Botanical Gardens and a 10-minute direct drive to Durban’s International Convention Centre (ICC).

This monumental colonial home, situated in the heart of “old” Durban, was built in 1910 and has been restored and re-designed to perfection. The origin floors reflect a style of yesteryear and a combination of classic and contemporary furniture the comforts of a modern-day home. The walls boast an impressive collection of original artworks all in support of local South African talent.

We pride ourselves on providing utter comfort and luxury, from the goose-down pillows and percale linen that feature in our rooms, to the starch-white tablecloths and napkins in the dining room. The guesthouse only has three luxury en-suite bedrooms; making it possible for us to give each guest the personal attention they need. Our bathrooms are clinically sterilised daily and offer a selection of soaps, shampoo, conditioner, moisturisers and a full range of high quality bath towels.
Furnished with contemporary Pago-design furniture and boasting an impressive colonial fireplace, the lounge and reception area in the guesthouse is comfortable and guests can sit and relax by candlelight while sipping away on a pale-dry sherry at hearts content.

After a wonderful night of relaxing sleep, guests can sit down to a superb continental breakfast with freshly baked muffins and croissants, a selection of healthy fresh fruit and yoghurt's and wonderfully chilled fruit juice. Our kitchen serves traditional home cooking and the chef prepares delectable dishes with his individual style and ten years of experience, making each meal unique.

A modern spacious lounging area with recessed lighting and art on the walls has replaced the old narrow colonial veranda and brookie-lace. This setting is perfect for a freshly brewed afternoon coffee or a cocktail at sunset. Afternoon tea is served in Royal Dalton china and reflects a true “English Colonial tradition”. The other side of the guesthouse offers a crystal clear swimming pool and deck area to laze in the warm Durban sun and drink ice-cold cocktails.
