Lighthouse Farm Lodge is situated within Oude Molen Eco Village, an emerging Sustainable Eco village on the grounds of an old government hospital. The site is in the Two Rivers Urban Park. River 1 the famous Liesbeek River as the shortest river in the World from Table mountain source to Table Bay and the notorious Black River where people were kept out of Central Cape Town. Come for a Village tour, stay the night and get the incredible History.

We have wonderful wetlands where you can go horse riding or take a stroll beside the duck ponds while admiring the superb view of The Table Mountain Range with Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head. We are the last remaining farmland in Central Cape town and yet only 10 minutes from Down Town.

The village is a work in progress so please excuse the way it looks when you arrive, it really is pleasant once you’ve settled in and most guests stay longer than they intended. We have been here for the past 13 years, having inherited buildings that were in need of TLC and have done much to establish the basis of an Eco village. Currently there are 45 tenants using the buildings for a variety of businesses and projects – workshops, art studios, Waldorf school, frail care centre, horse riding stables, backpacker lodges amongst other things. Despite our best efforts there is still much that could be improved upon. To this end we have approached the government to partner with us in upgrading the site into a sustainable neighborhood. They have entered into negotiations with us and we are in the planning phase to transform this site into a showcase pilot project that the whole city of Cape Town can be proud of. Green energy, mixed use, urban agriculture, recreation – the ultimate work/live/play combination.
