The Artist’s Cottage was built ca.100 years ago in the typical labourers’ flat-roofed style. Its original entrance facade has mouldings around the door and windows. Extended to include a new bedroom, bathroom and two outdoor seating areas, the cottage now offers a delightful, cosy and vibrantly styled self-catering accommodation for one - two adults on a country or spiritual retreat.

Cottage facilities comprise a fully equipped kitchen with an original 50’s gas stove (four burners and oven), vintage Dover wood stove, fridge, microwave, iron + ironing board, a small lounge/dining room, an adjoining bedroom with king-size bed, air conditioning/heating, mosquito net and hanging storage space, a bathroom with extra-long bathtub, walk in shower, hand basin and hair dryer.

The courtyard terrace leads onto a sheltered seating area facing the swimming pool, garden, and owner's residence. All quality percale linen, towels and dressing gowns are provided. Serviced once weekly or as desired, with a laundry service on the premises for a small additional fee. Shady parking on a quiet, safe country street in front of the cottage. Also available: SATV, wireless ADSL, restaurant booking and translation service (German, Italian, French, Spanish).

Directions
From Cape Town: Take the N1 for ca. 400 kms until you reach the turn off, to your right, for Prince Albert at Prince Albert Road (R328). Continue for a further 45 kms and enter the town by the main thoroughfare, Church Street. At the corner of ABSA Bank, turn right and continue straight ahead and upward, across Mark Street, until you reach the 2nd parallel street to Church Street: Nuwe Street. Turn left. The blue and white Artist's Cottage is at No.15, to your right. Park at the front gate.

From George: Take the R62 to Oudtshoorn and enter the town. Look out for the sign R29 to De Rust and/or Beaufort West - you will turn off to
your right from the main street. Follow the signs for De Rust, passing through this village and continuing through Meiringspoort towards Beaufort West. After passing Klaarstroom, leave the R29 and take a left turn towards Prince Albert (R407). Continue for a further 42 kms and enter the town by the main thoroughfare, Church Street. At the corner of ABSA Bank, turn left and continue straight ahead and upward, across Mark Street, until you reach the 2nd parallel street to Church Street: Nuwe Street. Turn left. The blue and white Artist's Cottage is at No.15, to your right. Park at the front gate.
