Forest creek is set in a private nature reserve, in a gorge of the Steinkampsburg mountains.
It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and one enters this little enchanted world.
On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge to a self-catering cottage. There are hiking trails along the stream under the canopy of trees. Treat yourself to an hour or two of relaxation in our Forest Spa
TROUT FISHING
We are situated half way down the Steenkampberg Mountain Range at an altitude ideally suited to the rapid growth of Rainbow and Brown trout. Our cold, clear perennial stream feeds the trophy dam in where these lovely fish abide in a truly beautiful setting.
The dam is approximately a half hour walk from the lodge or can be reached by 4x4 vehicle, leaving a 5 minute walk.
We practice catch and release of fish hooked.
HIKING TRAILS
One of our unique activities at Forest Creek are the Hiking Trails in the “Cloud Forest”.
The trails are designed for the entire family, and are most suitable for the even not so fit person. Under this canopy of trees and at the edge of the Mountain one feels very small, in comparison to the magical views.
The walk to the waterfall is approximately 2 kilometres, winding through the forest and criss crossing the stream in several places under the canopy of large indigenous trees.
One is likely to hear the baboons barking and spot the odd bush buck or red duiker and see the Cinamon Doves, Narina Trogon's and Lourie's that frequent the forest.
In the wetter months the ferns, orchids and wild mushrooms offer spectacular opportunities for the more photographic inclined.
A tree platform built in a large fig tree above the forest canopy, is an ideal stop for birders or to just relax and enjoy a picnic!
Scattered in the forest are remnants of old stone structures some of which are supposedly several thousand years old and are under study at present.
The forest is beautiful, friendly and safe.
Forest Creek Lodge is a haven for honeymooners - celebrating your first, fifth or fiftieth, you will be inspired by the romance of this incredibly exclusive, private place.
A question often asked is "Where are you?" The only way we can explain this is to say, if you were in Dullstroom and jumped off the mountain, you would land in our gorge (Box canyon).

Guest Suites
The ambiance is complemented by the beautiful interior design and furniture and facilities. All the suites have DSTV, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and bathrobes for your comfort.
Bird watching is amazing; there are many rare species here. Some of the more exotic species of interest to birdwatchers, such as the Knysna loerie, cinnamon dove, grey cuckoo shrike, blue mantled flycatcher, black eagle and the ultimate "tick", the narina trogon, can be seen from our treetop viewing platform or on a "walk and stalk" outing.
For the International traveler Forest Creek Lodge is an ideal place to relax and unwind after a long flight - a mere 180kms to the Kruger National Park, enjoy the treatments in the private Forest Spa, or just enjoy the tranquility of the bush. Forest Creek Lodge is a Malaria free zone.
At Forest Creek you will dine on a four-course d hôte dinner served in our candle lit dining room (Table d'hôte is a French phrase that literally means "host's table".), a choice of five-breakfast menus. We have a small menu for lunch.
The water at Forest Creek comes from a spring, Forest Creek boasts a huge fireplace. Weather permitting, you can enjoy your meals and drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the valley.
ACTIVITY'S
BUSH BATH - Set in a secluded spot, enjoy a 'Bath' in the bush, with lots of bubbles and champagne under the moonlight and stars.
FOREST SPA - Indulge yourself in our private Spa overlooking the gorge, go home feeling relaxed and stress free.
GAZEBO ROMANTIC PRIVATE DINNER - Spoil your loved one, and request this romantic setting for a totally private candle lit dinner under the gazebo. Many a proposal of marriage has been accepted in this lovely setting!
HIKERS PICNIC - A picnic packed in a rucksack, get ready to hike to the waterfall!
LAZY PICNIC - A picnic set out for you in a private spot, with champagne, a good one for the romantic at heart
HIKING - Marked trails through the forest, along the stream, (where in summer you can see the tiny tree Orchids, ferns and flowers, and fungi).
BIRD WATCHING - We have a prolific variety of uncommon species of Birds that can be seen, including a resident pair of Black Eagles. We have a Forest Creek bird list.
HORSE RIDING - 4km down the hill, book a ride in our scenic valley.

CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING - An interesting and testing range for the novice and experienced shotists.
GAME DRIVES - Game drives are available by prior arrangement only, on a neighboring property 15kms away. Species to view are: White Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Kudu, Eland, Zebra, Waterbuck, Bush buck, Nyala, Blue Wildebeest, Reedbuck, Blesbok, Hartebeests, Impala, Warthog, Duiker.
Please note that you must drive yourself to the farm. The ranch manager in a game viewing vehicle will then guide you. Picnic's are available from Forest Creek.

NARINA & CINNAMON SUITES - Named after the Narina Trogon and the Cinnamon Dove.
These suites have their own verandas, outdoor stone shower, Ball and claw bath tub set in the bay window looking into the bush. Queen sized 4 poster beds.
CARMINE SUITE - Named after the Carmine bee eater. This spacious suite supports a fireplace, his and her outdoor stone shower, private veranda with a small secret garden. A bath tub for 2 with plenty of candles, King sized extra length bed
SWAINSON SUITE - Named after the Swainson Francolin (Spur fowl).
This romantic suite supports a bathtub for two with plenty of candles, Queen size bed. Can add bunk beds to the lounge area to accommodate 2 children.
TAMBOURINE SUITE - Named after the Tambourine dove. This suite has 2 bedrooms, main room with a queen bed and the second bedroom can be 2 x single beds or covert to a king sized bed. has an outdoor stone shower, veranda, a big bath with lots of candles!
FOREST COTTAGE / SELF CATERING -This cosy rustic wooden cottage is situated 1/2km away from the main lodge area next to the indigenous forest and is totally private, and within earshot of the stream, with stunning views of the mountains. The cottage has a fireplace in the lounge/ diningroom and is fully equipped. There is a large outside braai area, with a table for a lazy breakfast, lunch or supper.
The cottage comprises 1 queen bedroom en-suite (bath and toilet, with the shower over the bath), another small bedroom with single bed and a double sleeper couch in the lounge.
LODGE RATES INCLUDE DINNER AND BREAKFAST
Note that the last 4kms of dirt road require a high clearance vehicle, however we can collect you at the bottom of the hill and leave your vehicle in a safe place. Most vehicles come up the hill, but please don't bring a new BMW or Mercedes!
Transfer costs per trip - R75.00 per vehicle.
