Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is a hidden gem, where abundant wildlife roam the plains, where the distant lion roars pierce the black dark of night and where the African sunset leaves an unforgettable memory.

And all this just a few minutes drive outside Plettenberg Bay, a small seaside town in the heart of the Garden Route, Western Cape, South Africa.

The Southern Cape's biggest game reserve, this malaria-free reserve is home to Africa’s Big 4 (rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) and has over 2000 hectares of indigenous forests, grasslands and fynbos. There are over 150 different species of game and bird-life. Join us on a horseback safari or 2 hour game drive in an open Land Rover with an experienced and well-informed guide.

We welcome children who can play in our enclosed play area while their parents dine alfresco on the veranda. Our bar and curio shop are also open to the public.

The Baroness Luxury Safari Lodge is reminiscent of the romantic colonial era of an age gone by and the Lodge, which was built in 1822 and lost little of its original ambiance. And while antelope and zebra roam freely around the lodge, guests are often distracted by the views across the indigenous forests to the Tsitsikamma mountains.

Each of the ten luxury double suites open onto the rolling lawns. Suites have both indoor showers and lounging bathtubs and are spacious and airy.

The outside Boma is built over a dam, and here guests can enjoy sundowners on the deck while keeping an eye out for the resident hippopotamus.

Rates are inclusive of a scrumptious breakfast and dinner. Lunch is available daily at The Shed, a short distance from the Lodge.
