A RICH AND DIVERSE ENVIRONMENT ...awaits you. Rental of a game viewing vehicle can be arranged, allowing guests to experience all the landscape has on offer. Free of large predators, there is a unique opportunity for the more energetic to explore the area on foot and the area is ideal for mountain biking. The estate is home to nearly twenty species of large mammal, including the largest antelope of all, the Eland. Kudu, Oryx, Nyala, Wildebeest, Hartebeest, Blesbok, Springbok, Impala, Lechwe and Giraffe are easily viewed, among others. The endangered Cape Mountain Zebra is well established.
The vegetation varies from Mountain Fynbos to Succulent Karoo and Renosterveld. Protea species can be found in the higher-lying areas, while aloes dominate the landscape on the lower slopes. Most plants flower in the spring, while the protea species tend to flower in autumn, and the bright aloe flowers light up the landscape in winter. The rich floral diversity attracts a wide variety of birdlife, from sunbirds to raptors to Blue Cranes.

THE APPEAL OF A BYGONE ERA ...with an understated sophistication best describes the Lodge. Fitting to the Karoo-colonial style, expansive patios provide insulation from the hot summer days, and cold winters when the snow lies high on the mountains above the Lodge. Guests are welcome to browse through the books in the library, catch up on the day's news on satellite TV in the lounge, enjoy a cup of coffee in the dining area or relax beside the crystal clear pool. The large and welcoming farm-style kitchen invites culinary activity, and easily accommodates multiple chefs. The kitchen table seats eight whilst the diningroom seating is flexible and comfortably accommodates 12. The outside braai area looks up to the stunning mountain scenery, and easily accommodates a large group.
Spacious bedrooms provide the perfect retreat, with their décor inspired by the flora and fauna of the region. Extra-length beds are made up twin, or king, and sleeper couches in the larger rooms can accommodate children without compromising spaciousness. All rooms have private patios; two rooms have full en-suite bathrooms and three have en-suite showers. Rooms are equipped with all linen and towels, tea/coffee making facilities, bar fridges, personal safes, heaters, electric blankets, ceiling fans, hairdryers, luxury gowns and toiletries.

Travel 13 km towards Oudtshoorn, on Route 62.
Turn Left at turnoff marked “Red Stone Hills” / “Kruisrivier”
Travel 16km on this gravel road (now 29km from Shell garage)
At grey buildings, turn Right at sign marked “Kango Grotte” (Cango Caves)
Travel 7 km further (total 36 km from Shell garage), at Lodge Gate will be on your left, with Lodge buildings visible from the road.

From Oudtshoorn:
(Distances are advised from Info centre on Baron Von Rheede Street)
Travel on Baron von Rheede (R328) north towards the Cango Caves for 27km.
Turn Left at Prince Albert junction (2 kms short of the Cango Caves)
At 39 km turn left at sign marked Matjiesrivier / Calitzdorp (3km short of the start of the Swartberg Pass)
At 50 km the tarred road ends, and at 57,4 km the Lodge Gate will be on the right.
