Blaauwheim is situated in Somerset West in the Western Cape, 40 km from Cape Town. The Western Cape has a Mediterranean climate with rain in winter and long sunny summers. Somerset West is in the heart of the famous Cape Winelands, near the long sandy beaches of the Strand and within easy reach of Hermanus, the whale watchers'paradise. Golfers are spoilt for choice with a selection of golf courses on our doorstep. Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in the country, is a mere 15 minutes away and Franschhoek, where the French Huguenots settled after 1688 and started viticulture in South Africa, will take another 15 minutes along a beautiful scenic route. The Mother City, Cape Town, is 45 minutes away. Cape Town is famous for Table Mountain, Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years), Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, excellent shopping centres, sports facilities, theatres and entertainment. This vibrant metropolis with its kaleidoscope of culture is one of the top twenty most visited cities in the world. Cape Town International Airport is a mere 20 minutes away from Blaauwheim.
