Birah is situated 100 km from East London and 50 km from Port Alfred on an exquisite and one of the most unspoilt sections of the SA coastline. If you want to just chill and get away from it all, Birah is the place to be. You have the best of both worlds - panoramic views of sea and river all within 10 minutes walk to the beach. The beach stretches for miles and walks can be enjoyed, often not seeing another soul. It is not uncommon to see seals on the more remote stretches of the beach. The Birah river is closed most of the time and provides an ideal playground for young children or for the older folk who like to relax with a sundowner.

The house is elevated with stunning views of both sea and the Birah River. Bird life is beautiful with a number of resident fish eagles. Birah boasts some of the best fishing on the entire SA coastline, especially for the famed Blue Fish (Bronze Bream).Other common species are Kob, Pignose, Galjoen, Raggies, sand sharks, etc. Lots of fun can be had in the river with a light rod and good catches of grunter, kob, garrick and the occasional rockod can be enjoyed.
