Doornkop Fish & Wildlife Reserve | Game Lodges & Resorts Carolina

Situated in the Komati Valley, Doornkop is malaria free and set in a private reserve of rolling hills and grassland savannahs. The Komati River and Swartwaterspruit wind their way through the reserve and fishing is available for both Yellow fish and Trout. Doornkop is fully game fenced and is currently stocked with 15 species of non-dangerous large mammals, as well as 203 species of bird. Game viewing can be enjoyed on foot, mountain bike, horseback or open top vehicles. Make time to visit the interesting ruins and discover the waterfalls and forest in the valley.

Each chalet consist of 3 bedrooms (sleeps maximum 6), a communal lounge/dinning area and fully equipped kitchen.
The main bedroom is en-suite and has a double bed.
The second bedroom is also en-suite with two single beds.
Upstairs loft with two twin beds (no bathroom en-suite occupants must share one of the two downstairs bathrooms)
Linen and bath towels are provided with daily cleaning service (limited on Sundays and Public Holidays).

Directions
From OR Thambo International Airport, take the R21 towards Boksburg / East Rand, then take the N12 towards Witbank. This road becomes the N4 (pls note this is a toll road to Nelspruit ).
Follow the N4 towards Belfast. Turn right at the (R33) Carolina turn-off just before Belfast at Wonderfontein. In Carolina at the 4-way stop (BP garage on the left hand side), turn left onto the R36 towards Machadodorp. After approximately 23 km’s, turn right, at the Doornkop turn-off. Follow the gravel road for 9 km’s into Doornkop. Reception will be on your left hand side.
In Inclement weather use alternative route:
In Carolina at the 4-way stop (BP garage on the left hand side), turn left onto the R36 towards Machadodorp. After 5 km’s, turn right at the Kalkkloof turn off (this is a gravel road). Follow the road 14 km’s until you reach the Doornkop sign on the left hand side. Turn left at the Doornkop turn-off. Follow the road for another 4 km’s into Doornkop. Reception will be on your left hand side.
