Welcome to a world where the only traffic is a heard of impala, where the sounds of freeways and burglar alarms are replaced by guinea fowl and woodlands kingfishers. Wake up a world where fly screens replace burglar bars and sunsets, sun downers and camp fires replace fast food and TV’s and a giraffe stands guard at the camp. Welcome to Welgedacht Game Reserve.

Just an hour north east of Johannesburg and half and hour from Pretoria lies Welgedacht Private Game Reserve. Nestled between the Bobbejaansberge and straddling the Boekenhoutspruit, the reserve forms part of the Dinokeng Game Reserve, an initiative by local government and Blue IQ.

In a world of carbon footprints and global warming our bush camp boasts being off the radar.

With no Eskom power, lighting in the camp is all solar, and hot water and cooking facilities are all gas. The camp comprises of four comfortable thatch bungalows with showers and toilets. Each bungalow has a double bed and comfortable sleeps two people. The main living area is spacious, with leather couches and an African feel that lends itself to complete rest and relaxation.

Game drives and walks, cycling and bird watching help rebuild stressed and jaded souls.

Directions
Take the N1 towards Polokwane, turn off at the Zambezi off ramp. Go through the Toll Gate (Toll Fees R7-00) turn right at the robot onto Zambezi Drive (towards Cullian). Go under the highway and turn left at the second set of traffic lights into R573 (KwaMhlanga Road). Proceed along R573 for 25 kms. Turn left onto Hammanskraal dirt road. Continue on this road for 4.5 Kms. The road splits, take the right hand split toward a red gate. Once through the red gate continue straight until the road splits again, take the left split. From the red gate drive 3.5 kms to reach the black gates of Welgedacht Game Reserve.
