A beautiful, secluded island in the heart of the Knysna lagoon, Leisure Isle is surrounded by soft white sand and washed by the azure water of the Indian Ocean.

You’ll soon understand why the Lodge was named, quite simply, “Amanzi”, the South African word for water. As it is amanzi that greats you first thing in the morning as you draw your curtains, and the soft lapping of the amanzi against the edge of the island, that lulls you to sleep at night.

On the water’s edge, the guesthouse overlooks the lagoon towards the Knysna Heads, two headlands forming the channel through which the Indian Ocean enters the lagoon.

Amanzi Island Lodge is a 10-minute drive from the center of Knysna, a bustling town in the center of the South African Garden Route. Reservations and bookings for lagoon cruises, whale watching, bungy jumping and guided forest tours can gladly be made at our reception.

At the end of the day return to our bed and breakfast to sip a sundowner on our balcony or relax by the pool and unwind as the sun sets behind the Western Headland.
