Oakdene Guest House B&B | Bed and Breakfast Oudtshoorn

Oakdene was built in 1853 by J.H. Mulder. Oakdene is typical Cape vernacular with elements of traditional Victorian and Klein Karoo architecture.
To preserve the "leiwater sloot" (open water furrow), Victorian trellis work, historical facade and the Oak Trees, Oakdene was declared a National Monument in 1988.
The Retief family, well known in Tourism and Guest House circles, bought Oakdene in 1999. Daughter, Liza, schooled in the hospitality industry by the family, not only restored Oakdene but installed her arty image in the form of earthy colours, cottage furniture and general decor.

When "sleeping out" what matters?

Liza thought about that and decided that cleanliness and comfortability are the most important factors. Every thing was done in these apartments to make your "sleep out" as comfortable as possible - well equipped bathrooms, comfortable beds, reading lights, clock radio's, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and colour TV's with M-net.

We have modern remote controlled air conditioners for our hot summer days and electric blankets for our cold winter nights.

Relax in Oakdene's lush garden and cool down in our radiant pool. Your car is parked safely under a roof on our property.

Oakdene is situated in town on the main Route to the world famous Cango Caves (one of the top 10 tourist attractions in S.A.).Close to the Cango Wildlife Ranch and the famous Ostrich Show farms.

You are within walking distance of the centre of town and our well known restaurants to enjoy our local wines and of course an Ostrich steak.
