Sand Forest Lodge is situated in the heart of Zululand a unique safari destination and is in close proximity to the Hluhluwe/iMfolozi Game Reserve, Mkuze Game Reserve, St Lucia National Heritage Wetlands Park, Kosi Bay, Sodwana Bay and False Bay Park. From Sand Forest Lodge you will be able to either self drive through the parks or we can arrange guided tours for both game and bird viewing and other exciting excusions.

We offer comfortable self-cater accommodation from camp sites, rustic bungalows, family cottages and double/twin cottages. Sand Forest Lodge is a private Game Lodge where you will feel one with nature and relax, walk with the animals, sit under the trees and enjoy the birds. This is a reserve where you can feel, hear and appreciate the South African bush.

Sand Forest Lodge is a 2½ hour drive from Durban and 6 hours from Johannesburg.

From the airport take the R22 to Delmas, take the R50 to Leandra ¡ú to Bethal ¡ú Ermelo ¡ú Piet Retief.
Rrom Piet Retief you travel toward and through Pongola, bypass Mkuze, 52km later is the Hluhluwe off-ramp

Durban to Hluhluwe: ¡À 280km

Take the N2 north and head toward Stanger, bypass Stanger ¡ú Mtunzini ¡ú Richards Bay ¡ú Mtubatuba ¡ú Bushlands, take the Hluhluwe off-ramp ¨C turn right toward the village:

Pietermaritzburg to Hluhluwe: ¡À 360km


Scenic route:
Take the R33 to Greytown, take R74 to Kranskop ¡ú Stanger ¡ú Mtunzini ¡ú Richards Bay ¡ú Mtubatuba ¡ú Bushlands, take the Hluhluwe off-ramp ¨C turn right toward the village:

Take the N3 to Durban, then take the N2 north and head toward Stanger, bypass Stanger ¡ú Mtunzini ¡ú Richards Bay ¡ú Mtubatuba ¡ú Bushlands, take the Hluhluwe off-ramp ¨C turn right toward the village:


From Hluhluwe Off-ramp:

From the N2, take the Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay off-ramp. You must follow the signs toward Sodwana Bay/False Bay Park. Drive through the village and turn LEFT at the fourth circle (you should see Allan¡¯s Butchery in front of you before turning).
After ¡À 1.6km on this road, turn RIGHT over the railway line into Sodwana Bay Road. After approximately 6km, turn RIGHT into False Bay Park Road (There are signs here). Sand Forest Lodge is 900m from the turning - on the LEFT side of the road.
