

Directions from King Shaka International Airport: Route 1 via North Coast Leave the King Shaka International Airport and at the main gate turn right proceeding along the road until this meets at a T junction with Sri Lanka Way. Turn left at the T junction and travel along Sri Lanka Way up to its intersection with Watson Highway. Turn right onto Watson Highway also indicated as M43 and proceed to the N2 interchange. Bear left onto the onramp to the N2 highway North and head north towards Ballito. Continue on the N2 past Stanger. Turn left to Eshowe on R66 at the Gingindlovu tollgate. Proceed through Eshowe to Melmoth. Turn left a few kilometres out of Melmoth onto R68 to Dundee / Babanango. Travel on this road for 25.5 km. There is a signboard indicating a right turn to Babanango / Dundee. Please keep a look out when you come to this point, on the R68. Follow this road to Babanango. At the stop sign in Babanango turn left. You are still on R68 to Dundee / Nqutu. From Babanango to the Isandlwana Lodge turnoff is +- 41 km. Continue along dirt road for 9 km into Isandlwana village. Follow the sign to the Information Centre and drive past it to Isandlwana Lodge. Please be careful of the potholes between Melmoth and Babanango. Directions from King Shaka International Airport: Route 2 via Pietermaritzburg/Ladysmith Leave the King Shaka International Airport and at the main gate turn right proceeding along the road until this meets at a T junction with Sri Lanka Way. Turn left at the T junction and travel along Sri Lanka Way up to its intersection with Watson Highway. Turn right onto Watson Highway also indicated as M43 and proceed to the N2 interchange Turn right onto the onramp to the N2 highway South and head north towards Umhlanga. Proceed along the N2 highway South until the major interchange where the offramps to Durban Central and the N3 highway North with Pinetown/Pietermaritzburg are indicated. Take the N3 – Pietermaritzburg offramp. Proceed on the N3 North to Pietermaritzburg and then on to Mooi River and Ladysmith. At the Toll plaza nearing Ladysmith take the offramp indicating Bergville/ Ladysmith. After paying the toll fee move up to the Stop street and turn right proceeding to Ladysmith. Drive through Ladysmith on the N11 to Elandslaagte. Approximately 30 kms from Ladysmith – there is a sign that comes on you very suddenly indicating a right turn to Dundee/Glencoe. Pass Glencoe on the outskirts and turn right at the T-junction to Dundee. Travel through Dundee on the R33 Vryheid road. About 6 kms outside Dundee turn right on the R68 Nquthu/Babanango/Ulundi road. Drive to Nquthu and when you get to the 4-way Stop intersection, turn right to Isandlwana / Babanango. Continue on this road for approximately 17 kms and you will see a sign indicating to a right turn to Isandlwana Lodge/Information Centre on a gravel road. Travel approximately 9 kms on this gravel road, straight through to the village of Isandlwana. (You will see the Lodge visible on right side against the side of the mountain). Turn right at the road signs indicating the way to Lodge and Information Centre. This route is about 90 kms longer but on better and safer roads. Directions by road from Johannesburg: Take N3 South to Durban, passing Heidelberg to Villiers. Branch left onto R103 before Villiers Toll Plaza and then the R34, bypass Vrede and Memel into Newcastle. In Newcastle, turn right at the traffic light and follow the road through town and turn right onto the N11 to Ladysmith. Continue south on N11 and turn left onto the R68 to Dundee. Drive through Dundee, past Talana Museum and onto the R33 to Vryheid. Turn right onto the R68 to Nquthu/Babanango/Ulundi approximately 6 kilometres outside Dundee. In Nquthu at the 4-way Stop intersection, turn right toward Babanango. Continue along R68 for approximately 17 kms. Look out for the sign indicating the Isandlwana battlefield and turn right onto a gravel road following the signs to Isandlwana Battlefields and Isandlwana Lodge. Continue along the gravel road for 9 kms into Isandlwana village. Follow the sign to Information Centre and drive past the Centre up to Isandlwana Lodge.
