From Johannesburg: Take N3 South down Van Reenen’s Pass and through Tugela Toll Plaza Take the 1st exit after the Tugela Toll Plaza and turn LEFT towards Ladysmith (turning right takes you to Bergville – do NOT go to Bergville) Go 4km and turn RIGHT onto the R600 towards Winterton and Spieonkop Go past Spieonkop Dam and Nature Reserve entrance At the T-junction, turn LEFT on R74 and go 1km into Winterton Opposite the Engen garage, turn RIGHT onto R600 to Central Drakensberg Go 24km on the R600 towards Champagne Castle Hotel Turn left onto D19 and follow signs for 1km to Mountain Splendour Alternative Route: Take the alternative route from Harrismith down Oliviershoek Pass!!! The road near Sterkfontein Dam was completed in 2016 and it currently in a good state of repair. From Durban: Take N3 North to EXIT 179 (Estcourt North/Central Drakensberg) Turn left and go 28km through Loskop and past Injusuti turn off Turn left at R600 to Central Drakensberg Go 12km towards Champagne Castle Hotel Turn left onto D19 and travel 1 km to Mountain Splendour.
