From Johannesburg Take the N3 Durban/N12 Kimberley (Toll Road) off the M2 city ring road. Take N3/N17 T Springs, left off the N3. Follow the N17 E Springs. Go through the Gosforth Plaza and continue on the new N17 to Bethal and Ermelo. Leave the town of Ermelo on the N2 to Piet Retief, Pongola and Mkuze. On the N2, at the Mkuze Village crossroads, turn right off the N2 onto the Bongonomo untarred road. Turn Left onto the D240 after one km. Stop to sign in at the ZRR gate where the guard will radio Mavela Lodge about your arrival. Travel 9km from the gate, a Mavela Game Lodge sign will direct you right to the lodge. From Durban Take N2 past Richards Bay and Hluhluwe to Mkuze village. Turn left off N2 at the crossroads onto the Bangonomo road for one km then left on the D240. Stop to sign in at the ZRR gate where the guard will radio Mavela (Golf One). Nine km from the gate the sign to Mavela Game Lodge will show road to the right. Stopover to Ponta do Oura Mozambique North of Mavela Game Lodge, on the N2 highway, take the Jozini turnoff to the Kosi bay and Ponta do Oura border post. It is about 2 hours to the border from Mavela. Then it's about an hour or so from the border to Ponta do Oura.
