OTTERS’ CREEK (34”20’48.40 S; 18”50’21.15 E) To get to Otters’ Creek from Cape Town: Take the N2, past the airport and continue until you have passed Somerset West. When you reach the robots just before heading up over Sir Lowry’s Pass, turn right, marked Kleinmond and Gordon’s Bay. At the robots at Gordon’s Bay, turn left. Travel along Clarence Drive (the coastal road) from Gordon’s Bay towards Betty’s Bay for about 25 minutes. Almost exactly 5km from the centre of the bridge at Rooi Els, turn right onto an unmarked gravel road towards the sea (If you reach the Pringle Bay turn-off, you have gone about 300m too far!) . 40metres further on turn left and enter via a farm gate, which has a sign for Otters Creek. Travel carefully for about 500m along the gravel track to Otters’ Creek. It is the only property on this road. We have the use of two cottages on an 8ha site spanning the river. At the fork at the end of the gravel road, turn left to get to River Cottage (the first cottage you come to to the left of the track is the caretakers cottage and the main house is to the right.) There is a path along the river then through the veld to the beach. It is not possible to drive to the property from within Pringle Bay, so if you miss the left turn off Clarence Drive and reach the Pringle Bay village turn-off, turn around and travel back, taking the first road left. Its about 300m from the Pringle Bay turn-off From the Betty’s Bay side: About 8 km after Betty’s Bay and about 300m from the Pringle Bay turn-off, turn left onto the unmarked gravel road described above.
