By boat: Boat trips run regularly from Maputo to Santa Maria. The trip takes between 40 minutes and 1hr 15 minutes depending on the weather and status of the tides. The Inhaca Ferry also runs 3 days per week and connections from Inhaca to Santa Maria is available. We can assist with arrangements in both instances By car: The road by car takes approximately 4.5 hours from Maputo. You will enter the Elephant Reserve through the FUTI GATE which is approximately 40kms south of Maputo and 30kms north of Ponta de Ouro Entering through the FUTI GATE is vital as Google Maps is not reliable and will take you on very bad roads. Follow the power lines through the reserve until you reach Santa Maria and then follow the signs to Nhucha Villas. It is important to be aware that a reliable 4x4 is required and that cell phone reception is sporadic throughout the reserve
