From Polokwane International Airport: 1. Head south on the N1 towards Modimolle /Nylstroom. From Polokwane, take the N1 highway heading south. 2. Exit onto the R33 towards Modimolle. Approximately 10.3 km after the Kranskop Toll Plaza, take the left exit onto the R33 towards Modimolle. 3. Proceed through Modimolle to Vaalwater. Continue on the R33, passing through Modimolle. Stay on this route for about 66.6 km until you reach Vaalwater. 4. Continue towards the Welgevonden Main Gate. Drive straight through Vaalwater. Approximately 24.3 km beyond Vaalwater, you'll see the Welgevonden Main Gate on your left. 5. Proceed to the East Gate if required. Depending on your lodge's location within the reserve, you might need to enter through the East Gate. If so, continue past the Main Gate and follow the R517. 6. Arrive at the designated gate. Upon arrival at the appropriate gate, you'll be met by lodge staff for transfer to Shawu's Hide Site 27, as private vehicles aren't permitted inside the reserve. From O.R. Tambo International Airport: 1. Exit the airport onto the R21 North.From the airport, take the R21 highway heading north toward Pretoria. 2. Merge onto the N1 North toward Polokwane. As you approach Pretoria, merge onto the N1 North highway, following signs for Polokwane. 3. Continue on the N1 and take the R33 exit toward Modimolle /Nylstroom. Stay on the N1, passing through the Pumulani and Carousel Toll Plazas. Approximately 10.3 km after the Kranskop Toll Plaza, take the left exit onto the R33 toward Modimolle. 4. Proceed through Modimolle to Vaalwater. Continue on the R33, passing through Modimolle. Stay on this route for about 66.6 km until you reach Vaalwater. 5. Head toward the Welgevonden Main Gate. Drive straight through Vaalwater. Approximately 24.3 km beyond Vaalwater, you'll find the Welgevonden Main Gate on your left. 6. Proceed to the East Gate/if required. Depending on your lodge's location within the reserve, you might need to enter through the East Gate. If so, continue past the Main Gate and follow the R517. 7. Arrive at the designated gate: Upon arrival at the appropriate gate, lodge staff will meet you for transfer to Shawu's Hide Site 27, as private vehicles aren't permitted inside the reserve. Cell Reception: Be aware that cell phone reception can be limited in certain areas en route and within the reserve.
