The Arnot Golf Club is a small club situated in what’s known as the cultural heartland of Mpumalanga. Just outside of Rietkuil, a small farming town off the N4 to Nelspruit, the club is less than 3 hours from Johannesburg and is surrounded by many gorgeous Ndebele villages, characterised by the brightly-painted geometric patterns which appear on the homes. The club itself has a pretty location and offers all of the amenities you could wish for as a golfer.

The Arnot Golf Club is nestled between a dam on the one side, and open farmlands on the other. As a result, playing on the neat course gives one the sense of plenty of space and it’s hard not to be aware of the big skies, which for many city-slickers, is just what the doctor ordered.

The parkland-style course is dotted with trees along its edges, which are home to many twittering birds. Officially it is a 9-hole course, but with 18 tees it is possible to play full round of the gentleman’s sport.

While it is true that the Arnot Golf Club is quite modest, in comparison to some others at least, it does indeed provide the necessary facilities. The clubhouse for example, has a nice halfway house where you can pop in for a light meal after a game of golf, there is also a bar where you can grab a drink and enjoy the social side of golf.

For those who feel a bit rusty, or alternatively the perfectionists, there is both a putting green and a driving range for golfers to hone their skills.
