The Elgin Grabouw Country Club is one of the most picturesque clubs of its kind in the Western Cape. It is located in the Kogelberg Biosphere region in the Cape Overberg, on the banks of the Eikenhof dam and is surrounded by pine forests. Views from the club’s premises extend across the Hottentots Holland, the Nuweberg and Groenland mountain ranges offering a scenic spectacular second to none.
The club was established in 1987 to serve the local communities and provide a social gathering point on neutral territory. It does this with aplomb and today the Elgin Grabouw Country Club has a burgeoning membership and is renowned further afield as an excellent venue for hire.
The team at the club is professional and efficient, capable of organising as wide a variety of events and functions as the versatile venue is capable of accommodating. These range from team-building events, to large sporting competitions and weddings. These are hosted in the club-house, in one of 3 venue halls with capacities of 12, 60 and 150 respectively, or outside on the grounds, which has a much higher capacity.
Owing to the magnificent surroundings and the features of the area, the country club is able to offer a wide variety of sporting disciplines which include tennis, squash, bowls, cricket (it’s the home ground for the Elgin social cricket team), mountain biking and hiking, and thanks to the dam, there is also kayaking, a rowing club, wind surfing and bass fishing on offer.
The Elgin Grabouw Country Club has a fully licensed restaurant which looks out over the dam, and there is a bar too. Whether it’s as a competitor in a sporting event or simply for a leisurely Sunday lunch in a beautiful country location, make sure you visit this country club.
