Accommodation near Entabeni Hospital
Entabeni Hospital is a member of Life Healthcare, one of South Africa’s largest private hospital groups, who are responsible for the operation of 60 acute care facilities nationwide.
Situated in the picturesque Durban suburb of Berea, Entabeni Life Hospital overlooks the harbour, a feature that makes the recovery process of patients all the more manageable.
Entabeni Hospital’s commitment to providing world-class health care emanates the core values of Life Healthcare. These values pertain to the individual needs of the patient, and their families. This is done through ongoing training of the staff, hiring high calibre healthcare professionals and ensuring that equipment and facilities used are serviced regularly and in excellent condition. This commitment to excellence spreads outward toward the community, where staff members are dedicated to bettering the lives of local residents.
To date, there are 292 acute beds and 50 beds which are reserved for patients recovering in the rehabilitation unit. The newly opened renal unit offers high-quality care by qualified practitioners and experienced nurses to those suffering from renal failure. This ward offers comfort, round the clock medical care and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Patients who have been left immobilised after traumatic strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, will have the space to recuperate and re-learn skills lost due to disability at the Rehabilitation Unit. To ensure that quality care is received and improvements to health are made daily, the unit is run by a dedicated team of specialists, including neurologists, occupational and speech therapists, general practitioners, and others.
The 36-bed neurosurgical ward offers sweeping views of the cityscape to patients in recovery or awaiting treatment. Accommodation available here includes VIP suites which are akin to a stay in a 4-star hotel. This room comprises of a lounge, a flat-screen television, a sleeper couch for guests who wish to stay overnight and an internet connection. Alternatively, there are two five-bedded units which are in close proximity to the nurse’s station, allowing for optimal care and supervision of patients.

Loved it. Old world charm, close to the beach but when you are in Berea it feels like a different country. We went for walks (felt very safe) visited the local coffee shops and restaurants. Loved our stay!
