The quaint
Hankey golf course, designed by Allen
Brooks in 1966, is a 9-hole course
that can be played as 18-holes. It is rated a par 72 course with sheep grass on the greens and kikuyu grass on
the fairways.
This little
course was rated in the top ten 9-hole
golf courses in South Africa and plays host to the Moorland Hadeda Classic
Tournament every year. Surrounded by beautiful
hills and fertile farming land, the course is a modest gem that is a
favourite amongst golfers in the area of the Gamtoos Valley.
The club
has putting greens available as well
as a halfway house for mid game
refreshments. The pro shop at the
club also has a professional available
for lessons, to help you improve your form, as well as to assist with
outfitting and offer more general advice for golf-related purchases.
The Hankey
Golf Club’s course is always in great
condition and the meals served at the clubhouse restaurant are no
different. The staff at the Hankey Golf
Club are always friendly and happy to assist. They are dedicated to
providing visitors and members with an experience that will have them coming
back for more. Additionally, the pub
offers a nice range of drinks and snacks for after game relaxation.
The
clubhouse also offers banquet and
conference facilities with a great view of the unspoiled valley.
The town of Hankey is home to the largest sundial in Africa. This amazing
contraption, weighing in at 1 ton and standing at 18 metres high, is worth
going to see should you be playing golf at the club.
