Accommodation near Princes Grant

Since its establishment a little over 20 years ago, in 1994, Princes Grant has grown to become one of the most prestigious residential estates in the KwaZulu-Natal region. The land, which was initially used for sugarcane farming, was reclaimed by Guy Smith, a renowned South African developer. It was Guy’s aim to build an environmentally-friendly destination for both residents and visitors. This vision was turned into a reality after 10 000 indigenous plants and trees were planted, to replace the hectares upon hectares of sugarcane fields. The decision to introduce vegetation to the area saw the estate being recognised as a ‘site of conservation significance’ by the KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife Department.

The estate is ideally located, situated on the Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Today Princes Grant comprises of 450 home and plots; surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking the Indian Ocean and an 18-hole championship golf course. While a haven for young, nature-loving couples who are looking to start a family in peaceful surrounds, the estate make an ideal destination for holidaymakers. Visitors can make use of the championship golf course, take walks in the coastal forest, or canoe on the lagoon.

While there are many attractions and activities to enjoy at Princes Grant, its biggest drawcard is the 18-hole golf course. Since its opening, it has earned itself a reputation for excellence. This reputation for excellence has seen it being granted the title of ‘Best Golf Development’ in South Africa by the World Property Awards, in 2011. Players of all handicaps enjoy a unique yet challenging round of golf, where the grounds are characterised by large greens and impressive fairways. Due to KwaZulu Natal’s temperate climate of mild winters and sub-tropical summers; golf can be enjoyed year-round.

Visitors from afar can expect a comfortable stay at the opulent four-star lodge, comprising of 15 rooms that overlook the course. If you’d prefer to self-cater, there are several lavish homes found throughout the estate.

With beautiful backdrops and an idyllic bay found right on the doorstep of the estate, Princes Grant is a wedding venue of choice for many brides-to-be. The adjacent beach sees many ceremonies taking place at sunset while the estate’s conference centre is an ideal, spacious venue for a reception.

Ballito Reviews

Ballito is the jewel of the Dolphin Coast with everything you need close by, yet not as busy and hectic as Umhlanga or Durban.

Ballito is a lovely friendly and clean town
- Annemarie Schenk

It is a beautiful area, but it was too busy December. The Granny Pool in Salt Rock was too busy to even have a swim in it. We went to the beach once only at Salt Rock. People braaied in the parking lot and was drinking and made a noise.
