Mkhaya is situated in southeast Swaziland, in the heart of the African Bushveld. The reserve comprises of acacia dominated thornveld in the south to broadleaf sandveld in the north. The reserve is criss- crossed with dry riverbeds and dotted with many clay waterholes. The bushveld vegetation of ancient Leadwoods, Knob thorns and tambotis are particularly valuable from both biological and aesthetic perspectives.
Game viewing tracks between indigenous tress allow intimate encounters with elephant, White and Black Rhino, and a rich diversity of other wildlife. Local guides share their knowledge on open Land Rover drives and walking safaris, providing superb photographic opportunities. Swazi hospitality is a feature of stone camp, where traditional meals and dancing are enjoyed beneath the giant sausage.
A night spent in one of the semi-open stone and thatch cottages offers simple African luxury and completes the Mkhaya experience.
