Tofinho, less than 1 km south, is situated on a more exposed and rocky headland, producing some excellent surfing conditions. Tofinho Point is also a favourite spot for fishermen when a high tide covers the shelf, allowing casting for kingfish into the deep waters beyond. Tofo Beach is an amazing, family-friendly beach surrounded with a number of bars, restaurants, and the Tofo Hotel (try the chicken burgers, and the Mad Man cocktail). To get there, you go to Tofo market which is adjacent to the beautiful wide beach. It is safe for swimming and there are always a couple of people catching waves. Tofo is a small coastal town with a lovely beach that offers safe swimming, good reefs for fishing and snorkeling, beach bars and dive schools. The Scuba diving sites are amazing. A spectacular blowhole near the tip of the Point gives a raw display of power when there is a large swell running. Tofinho is also the site of the Frelimo Monument to Fallen Heroes, close to where unfortunate victims of the former regime were thrown into a sea cave, to be drowned by the rising tide.
