WELCOME TO THE TRAVELLING TORTOISE We are a new off-the-grid eco resort situated only 10km from the pretty town of De Rust in the Western Cape. The resort is set in natural Klein Karoo veldt with stunning views from the decks of our mountain chalets. The pastoral, green Middelplaas valley is in front, the Red Stone Hills to the right and the inspiring Swartberg behind. The main chalets are spacious and well equipped. The retro cabin over the hill takes you back to how life was 50 years ago. There is a family hike where you will spot small buck, the mongoose, maybe a porcupine, the tortoise and its arch rival the hare. Bird life is abundant, many hawks and raptors hover over the bush scanning for food. It can be hot in The Little Karoo - that's why we've got a great pool, sun deck and shaded areas. There is a camp site on the lower reaches. So weary traveler, visit us and wind down. Do as the tortoise does – wind down slowly. There are no water restrictions. We are pet friendly The latest additions to our facilities are eco wood- fired hot tubs. They are situated in the bush and private to The Angulate and Hing-back chalets. Perfect for a cold winters night while star gazing with a glass of wine, or a cool splash pool in the hot summer. Guaranteed no outages.
