Old Furth Estate is close to The Midlands Meander. You’ll love our place because of the location, the high ceilings, the views, the ambiance, and the people. Old Furth Estate is good for families (with older kids - PLEASE NOTE: NO children under 10 years old!) and big groups. Spectacular scenery, fabulous walking trails, waterfalls and indigenous forests, this is a working farm with Nguni cattle, Shire horses and forestry, plus the farmyard animals such as dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. The Lodge and Manor house are built from local stone, gathered on the Estate. The Lodge was restored from a ruinous building several years ago and all the doors and windows were recycled from our parental home. Guests are encouraged to recycle their waste and live lightly on the land, so a carbon-friendly stay all round. The Trails are superb and guests can walk, run or cycle over most of the Estate. Explore rivers, waterfalls and forests or hike to the top of our iconic mountain Nhlosane, which can be seen from miles away. There are exquisite Victorian gazebos tucked away in secret spots and a fabulous fire-pit and braai area which guests are welcome to use. We are resident on the Estate, so there is someone available most of the time.
