Located 2,5 hours from Johannesburg and 1,5 hours from Pretoria, Sandfields and Forests is a birder friendly privately owned wildlife reserve of 2 500 hectares bordering the Nylsvley Provincial Nature Reserve in the Nyl floodplain – an internationally recognized wetland and a Ramsar Site. Abundant birdlife (nearly 400 species) makes the area a mecca for bird lovers. It is also home to a wide range of wildlife including Roan, Sable, Tssessebe, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Southern Reedbuck, Kudu, Impala, Waterbuck, Nyala, Zebra and Giraffe. Predators include Leopard, Brown Hyena, Caracal, Serval, Genet, Small Spotted Cat, Jackal and Honey Badger.
