African Array Lodge

Overview

African Array is nestled between a biome of Fynbos on a high cliff overlooking a beautiful valley with spectacular mountain and ocean views, the world famous Robberg Peninsular and the historical Jakkels Kraal dairy farm home to the Griekwa people.

Relax on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view while watching the fish eagles dive into the Roodfontein dam or just hover over head right in front of you. You feel like you are miles from civilization even though town is just a stone's throw away. Laze in the hammocks scattered around the garden under trees and hidden from everyone else, so you can have a nice relaxed time without being bugged. The hostel has WIFI and its available all around the garden on the deck and its free. For those guests who don't have their own laptop or smart phone, we have a terminal in the reception you are welcome to use and stay in contact with your loved ones.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be ordered off a menu at the bar and the beers are always cold. Dinners must be ordered by 4pm in order for us to provide good food at a reasonable time. In order for us to give you an authentic African experience we will serve traditional meals at night. (Babootie, bunny chow, braai, potjies, waterblommetjie bredie, pap and vleis, vetkoek and mince and more). Should you like to cater for yourself we have a fully equipped kitchen making it easy and comfortable.

We have an unbelievable array of activities available at African Array Lodge. Bungee jump from the highest bridge in the southern hemisphere, swim with seals or dive with sharks, skydive over one of the world's most beautiful drop zones. Boat based whale watching, sea kayaking or rent a boat and picnic on the side of the Keurbooms River, go horse riding in a game reserve or visit one of the many world renowned animal sanctuaries. Hiking some of the most amazing coastal hikes in the country, the Robberg Peninsula is a must see and if you ask Matthew nicely then he may even take you to the wild side a beautiful coastal walk, untouched and breath taking.

We recommend two nights stay.

Guest Comments

Mathew,Victoria & family are great hosts and provided us with lovely accommodation and food.
The fires at night kept us warm on the cold nights. They also advised us about various activities in the area.
The only downside was the dirt road (2.5 km) from the N2, it definitely needs working on - the owners have tried to repair parts of the road, but it is not a road I would travel at night.

It is a great place, just finding it is a bit difficult. However, after you have completed the journey, it is definitely worth it!
