Braeside is a very special place. Built in 1901, this Cape Edwardian treasure is a haven of tranquillity. Situated away from the main road, Braeside enjoys sweeping views across a large and well maintained garden to the Langeberg Mountains and the Marloth Nature Reserve.

From the moment you arrive you will be taken in by the warmth and hospitality of the surroundings. Braeside has five individually styled en-suite bedrooms featuring beautiful views, some with private patios. All rooms have televisions with satellite channels, bar fridges, safes, hairdryers, air conditioning, fresh flowers and fruit. The beds are fitted with non-allergenic mattresses, down duvets good quality linen and towels. Wireless Internet access is also available.

Braeside is close to many local attractions including the Bontebok National Park, De Hoop Marine Nature Reserve, Marloth Nature Reserve and the Robertson and Barrydale wine routes. After a day's sightseeing, relax next to the swimming pool or in the Gardens before enjoying an excellent meal at one of the many nearby restaurants.

Beautiful garden. Friendly and obliging owners and staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We were especially impressed with their willingness to adapt to our needs and the fact that we could stay one night and return two nights later for only one night again during a busy time of year.Hospitality appeared to be more important to them than trying to glean money from us .This will certainly persuade us to choose this establishment again when we need private accommodation in Swellendam.

We were certainly made to feel at home here, relishing the opportunity to put our feet up and read a book in the later afternoon sun. After a delicious dinner in town, a big bath and warm bed in the 'honeymoon suite' finished our day beautifully. The next morning's breakfast was scrumptious and we were sad not to be staying another night in this lovely little place!

Fiona is really a star. Would definitely recommend Braeside
