Guest Comments

I really felt that the service was poor.
Starting with the owners pouncing on the guests to pay upfront the full amount before they even spent a night there. This was the first time I experienced this at a guesthouse in SA or anywhere I have slept before. If at all that was a requirement it should have been made certain on the booking site/form prior so that we could have paid at the time we paid the initial amount to Sleeping Out. The issue here not being the money but the way it was done.

The arrangement between Sleeping Out (to which the lady kept referring to as SnapChat) and Janana should be very clear so guests know.

Whilst demanding her money, she stated that the accommodation is actually R900 per night and when we said, we were quoted R700 per night, she changed and said the R239.00 goes to Sleeping out and R1161.00 goes to Janana, which was just confusing and didn't make much sense from the R900.

We agreed that we would pay the R700 that night and the remainder(R461) the following day. The guest left in the morning for business (took the room keys, a certain indication they would be returning) and on return at night found the room had been given to other guests, this was disappointing. The lady offered another room inside her house (which she referred to as her room - she said she would give the guest her room - even more appalling - who does that?)

Since that was late at night the guest decided they would stay there anyways - we paid the rest of the money, they were given the room, which is below expected standards and wree told their guest had to be out by 10pm as the house would be closing (why have an inside house entrance to a guest room if at all?), 1 for the area (Bryanston) 2(price) 3(to even be a guesthouse). They could have easily just gone and borrowed a room in a friends' house.

The pictures give on the site and the actually place are exact opposites. Needless to say, as much as i like referring people to guesthouses in our area, Janana is not going to be part of that list of references.
