Overview

Situated on the banks of the Selati River, under the shadow of majestic wild fig trees, lies Makubu Lodge. The local communities have always referred to this pool in the river as "the place of the hippos", and every afternoon we enjoy a friendly visit from these magnificent animals. Makubu Lodge is a fusion of cultures and sights that we have experienced through multiple journeys in Africa. With original thatch roofs, terraces open to the river and a swimming pool hanging over the river, the lodge fits into the beauty of its surroundings.

Marakapula Reserve lays a step away to the world renowned Kruger National Park. The Selati river flows through Marakapula from west to east, its 7 huge dams give life and a special strength to this piece of Africa. Within the river banks you can find magnificent wild fig trees that will capture your sight with their long yellowish branches, thousand year old lead woods, whose wooden armours don't even decay after dead or tremendously tall tamboties with their red wood. These are only a few examples of the amazing variety of flora in the Reserve.
Marakapula is also home to more than 30 species of animals including antelopes, felines and others.

Marakapula's cuisine is a focus of special attention on our side. It goes beyond offering you the possibility to enjoy the culinary delights of this part of the world; a young team of chefs, searches day by day to create and innovate a new African cuisine based on the assortment of cultures and races that give shape to our young nation. A menu capable to gather the incredible variety of fresh produce from this land. We will offer you the chance to delight your taste buds with an ample range of game meats, vegetables grown in our own Gardens, tropical fruits etc. We have also carefully selected some of the most renowned wines from our country that will enhance our menu to the utmost perfection.
