Guest Comments

Millgate Cottage is on a beautiful sloping site, with large trees and gardens and plenty of lawn, and a pleasant view. The experience probably depends on which of the units you choose. We stayed in the old house which is an old farm house divided into two adjoining portions. It is spacious, affordable and convenient for a family, but the style and decor is dated. The building are located far apart for privacy. The bar/restaurant on site (the Mole and Kolsch Stube) is not brilliant but convenient for dinners. The style is 'new-agey'/eclectic and a bit disturbing. The garden is spacious and neat and very kid friendly but the swings are a bit rickety and the small dogs could be off-putting for little kids. The set up is a bit confusing, seeming to be made of different establishments under different names which seem to have changed a few times. The site is very quiet, even the shops, so it does not seem to be well known as a stop on the Meander. Everyone was relaxed, friendly and accommodating, if a bit scarce. I think some rejuvenating, re-branding to introduce a theme to link the different establishments and expansion of the restaurant to cater for the coffee shop rather than the pub market and some marketing could see the potential fully realized.

Ramshackled, typical SA B&B: converted outhouse with second hand furniture and drapes and cheap appliances. My bed was on a slope, ok for an inexpensive get-away. Nicely situated for meandering and not too far from Howick for supplies

Nice short stay accommodation in the Midlands. Well located close to all Meander route hubs. Nice pub on site serving craft beers. All in all a value for money family destination.
Very peaceful and relaxing.
