The Mount Everest game farm covers approximately 1000 hectares and consists of mountains, kloofs and rolling grassland, a perfect setting for the 22+ species of game on the farm.

Among the species on the farm are blesbuck, springbuck, the rare lechwe, mountain deer, ribbok, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, zebra, ostrich, steenbok, duiker, rietbuck, rooikat ( caracle), meerkat and also a "dassie" colony.

The very rare reptile called "ouvolk" also thrives on part of the farm. There is also a wide variety of birds.

The game can be viewed from the comfort of your chalet, from the game drive vehicle, quad bike, hiking or cycling.

The farm is located 20 kilometres from Harrismith and 17 kilometres off the N3 highway between Johannesburg and Durban, which makes it the perfect stopover to start your holiday.

Accommodation is available in our swiss style chalets or thatch roof buildings. We also provide beautiful venues for weddings, conferences, team building activities, high ropes or any other functions.

Set in the very scenic Eastern Free State, it is close to the Golden Gate National Park, Clarens, the Drakensberg, the Midlands Meander and the Sterkfontein Dam. The close by town of Harrismith annually hosts events like the Dirty Harry Mountain Bike race, the Berg, the Sterkfontein Dam swim etc.

This place is not a game lodge. It is not up to standard and should not be advertised as such. It is falling apart :
(1) I was not placed in the unit I booked.
(2) In the unit I was placed, there was missing windows.
(3) The light fittings were falling out of the ceilings.
(4) Shower doors were broken and some were missing.
(5) Reception staff were never in the office and had to be called by phone when needed.
(6) Game drive vehicle was in such a bad state that nobody could take a drive.
(7) The furniture in my unit was in such a bad state, I was forced to place pillows on it before I could sit.
The place is so bad I will never visit again.

We recently had a delightful one-night stopover at Mount Everest Game Farm. The setting is stunning at the foot of beautiful mountains and my two small children loved the loft room. Two very friendly dogs and a helpful and friendly host helped to make our stay very enjoyable.

The 3 bedroom chalet is wonderful! My crew were really amazed. I will bring more of them here next year.

Beautiful quiet area, not overcrowded - perfect get away for a weekend. Cottage a bit dated but it's in a great location and you can just disappear. All the basic necessities are there and staff were absolutely amazing in terms of service. Recommend doing a few hikes around the property - superb for sundowners.

I can unfortunately not give a good review of Mount Everest Game Farm. We stayed in one of the duplex units, sleeping 4 people. I was so disappointed. The place needs serious upgrade and although some of the larger, more expensive units had a beautiful view, some of the other units are located in an unattractive area of the farm. The unit was clean with working appliances but for the price we paid we expected much much more.I will not recommend anyone to stay there or use it as a halfway stop to the coast.

Most beautiful place to stay, people were very friendly.

Lovely setting and good for a simple stopover but the 5km of gravel road made it hazardous to access.

It was a wonderful 3 day stay for our group of friends. It's a perfect place for a private getaway. Not forgetting the scenery - awesome. It was also lekker to see wild animals wandering about. Good mountain hiking for people who like to catch the first roaming energy. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves nature. We are definitely going back.
