Alwyn and Paul would like to invite you to join us on an epic journey as we welcome you to Mountain Park Hotel nestled at the foot of the majestic Amahqwa (Frowning Man) mountain, and transport you to an era gone by. We remain true to timeless standards and no compromise over supreme comfort and guest service set against backdrops of an old Tudor style manor house, with authentic hand carved black wood beams, low ceilings, hand carved blue stone walls and carefully chosen relics such as broadswords and battle-axes from England and Spain.
The Mountain park hotel is a very unique resort offering various activities to occupy the whole family. Facilities at the resort include a swimming pool and pool area. The perfect place to have a relaxing swim on a hot summers day, or spoil yourself with a sundowner in our comfortable thatched pool lounge. Some me time in the Sauna or socialising in the Spa, Tennis courts, volley Ball, Squash and bowls for the sporty guest.
A private Dam on the property for a spot of Bass fishing of just a leisurely picnic at the dam.
For the adventurous there are a range of either guided or unguided walks to waterfalls, natural forests or even the very top of the majestic Amahqwa mountain all with jaw dropping views of the Southern Drakensberg, lush green valleys and even grab a glimpse of some rock paintings from an age gone by.
Founded in 1885 by Sir Henry Bulwer. Aside from a little supermarket, a smattering of houses, a Build It and an Engen garage, there is not very much to the little town of Bulwer, through which the R617, one of the main routes into the Southern Drakensberg, passes. But then the main reason for being here is not to visit the town. A village like Bulwer serves little other purpose than to refuel, both your car and possibly your food supplies, before entering the Wilderness and beauty that is the Drakensberg. Although the little Yellow Wood church, built in 1886, is probably worth a slow drive-by. And the Sappi office is evidence of the huge forestry industry in and around Bulwer
