Overview

Welcome to Old Beacon Hill once an old railway station set in the heart of Kwa-Zulu Natal, now beautiful self-catering cottages. With tranquil, picturesque surrounds and wonderfully located in the idyllic Lowlands, we are the ideal platform to discover what the Drakensberg, the Midlands Meander and the historic Battlefields have to offer.

Arts, crafts, game reserves, food and drink, outdoor pursuits, historical monuments, relaxation and sports are all within easy reach of the venue.

Old Beacon Hill has four cottages on the land accommodating up to a total of 20 guests (and as many infants under three as you can squeeze in).

There are over seven hectares of land to explore that has a stream running along it, a torch-lit gazebo over-looking a pond and plenty of wildlife.

Unbelievably this haven is less than a 2 minute drive to the N3 (don't worry you can't see or hear it!) where there is easy access to all that is Drakensberg - only a 25 minute drive will take you to the heart of the Champagne Valley and its mountainous environment. If its arts, crafts, food and wine you're after, then a 20 minutes drive will take you to Nottingham Road and all the Midlands Meander has to offer. Locally, there are beautiful drives and walks where you can see the Bushman's River in all its glory and the first of many historical Battlefield sites- Willow Grange is about 5km away with a scenic drive that takes you up into the hills. You may want to visit a game reserve - the popular Weenan is only 25 minutes away where you can see rhino, giraffe, zebra and a whole host of other marvellous creatures. We are the ideal base for a lengthy holiday and fantastically positioned for a quick stop-over.

NOTE: If a search was made without stipulating the month of occupation the rate shown on the search results page is for the lowest cost month and the least expensive room. Where pricing is "per unit" the Average Price Per Person based on maximum occupancy is used for the price range comparison. Guest Comments

Old Beacon Hill and it's owners were welcoming and went the extra mile to help us. Leaving excess luggage to be collected by others passing by - no problem. Little folk wandering into their private space - no problem. We had a lovely time there with our grandsons. Thank you.

Lovely venue, perfect hosts, everything you could need.

Had a really wonderful, peaceful time at Old Beacon Hill. Will recommend this place to anyone who wants that peace and quiet break. The whole experience was a 10.

My little family of four recently spent a wonderful weekend away at Old Beacon Hill to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Adele & Ed were wonderful hosts, friendly and welcoming but at the same time giving us the space and time that we were craving together as a family. The beautiful log cabin was perfect - spacious, well-decorated and attention to the little details that really make a place your "home away from home"! We enjoyed the expanse of the property to take a little stroll and ride our bikes alongside the stream. It was also a good base for our 4X4 exploring that we love to do. Thank you for accommodating us =)
