Saint du Barry's has five en-suite rooms, all opening to the garden, the centre of which is a huge wild fig tree. This tree is well over a hundred years old, and gives the lodge its own ambiance of peace and protection. Free WIFI throughout.
Each suite has an air conditioner, fridge, fan, heater and HD television, as well as a wall safe, coffee and tea making facilities. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable. The ceilings are open to thatch and rafters and this offers pleasant temperatures, natural fragrances and atmosphere.
Guests are welcome to relax in the garden by the pool and to enjoy drinks on the thatched veranda. Saint du Barrys is fully licensed. There is a guest lounge in the hundred year old section of the lodge. Breakfasts cater to a variety of tastes and boast a large selection of preferences from which to choose. There is secure undercover parking. Good restaurants are within walking distance. It is safe to walk through Clanwilliam by day and night. Bookings can be made for lunch and dinner. Packed lunches are available on request.
Saint du Barrys is family owned and run. The lodge was named after St Bernard, the founder of the Cistercian Order and his legendary St Bernard dog that had the intuitive ability to reach travellers overcome by snow.
Saint du Barrys overlooks a citrus orchard on the perimeter of Clanwilliam which is about four kilometres off the national road, the N7, between Cape Town and Namibia. Clanwilliam is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, and is ideally located for walks and hikes in the Cedarberg Mountains and visiting sites of Bushman rock art.
The Olifants River wine route and the Rooibos tea farms are well worth a visit. Lamberts Bay is close by. Other activities of interest include bird-watching, visiting the shoe factory, 4X4 trails and an assortment of watersports on the Clanwilliam dam. During August and September the spectacular flower season attracts tourists from all over the world.
The bedrooms are large, with generous seating space and are open to rafters and thatch. Air conditioned in summer and heated in winter. Electric blankets on chilly nights.

A very welcoming establishment after a long trip from Ai Ais - very comfortable and a fabulous breakfast. It was wonderful to see the attention to detail and be woken by birdsong.

It was a wonderful experience. Since my team and I worked outside Clanwilliam during our stay, it was like stepping into paradise when coming 'home' in the evening. They were very accommodating, even allowing us to use the dining -room for a few hours to do some preparations for the workshop we had to present. They also were prepared to help with bookings for dinner.
The breakfasts were splendid!
