The Jupiter were established in 2002 in the historical main road of Sutherland. Back then the street were named ''Veldskoen straat'' and were the original main road of town. For this reason most of the older houses and buildings are found alongside The Jupiter down this road. Buildings such as the Louw House museum, ''Nagmaal Huisies'' and the ''Prokureurs Huis''.

The Jupiter now offer 5 snug en-suite rooms with all the necessities needed to stay warm while enjoying our area's clear winter night skies whilst temperatures drop to -16 degrees or go hide from the coldest wind chill days when snow cover the streets of town. You could also enjoy the service of our lounge and restaurant offering restaurant style home cooked meals daily in front of the kaggel during our coldest months. We specialize in Karoo lamb and our woodfired pizzas.

We will assist you with all tours and activities to the area. Whether you are looking for an adventure outride accompanied or solo on bike or 4x4, stargazing, a visit to SAAO and SALT, mountain bike riding, walking, a game of golf or just to get out of town and into the veld.

Jupiter is located in the middle of Sutherland, you are greeted friendly then you arrive and showed to your room, staff is very friendly, room is clean and well layed out we stayed in room 2 with a double bed and one single bed, coffee and tea is provided they have a play area for the kids, a nice sports bar with 2 x tv screens to watch sport a nice little sitdown bistro the food they serve is well prepared and service is good, nothing is to much. Just one thing to remember is that the local filling station only opens at 11 am on a Sunday so fill your tank on the Saturday. Overall give it a try.

Well received. Food was great value for money. An easy drive /ride to the SAAO.

No TV in the room and no lounge to watch TV in. There is a TV in the bar but we don't drink. Good stay in a quaint town.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Geyser a little small for 2 people. It would be nice if rooms were cleaned daily and tea's/coffee's were replenished. Food and waitrons were excellent.

Rudimentary, but clean and neat. Must compliment the chef, best ever lamb shank and veggies ever eaten! Value for money, as the rates were good.
