The uMuzi Bushcamp is in Ulundi, near Ondini, the site where the Zulu monarch, King Cetshwayo, built his royal residence which was destroyed by the British forces under Lord Chelmsford in 1879 during the Anglo-Zulu war.
Offering comfortable accommodation, eight of the huts have en suite shower and toilets while one shares the modern ablution facilities.
The Magogo is a four bed family room with en suite shower and toilet facilities.
The uMuzi caters for single visitors up to tour groups offering meals cooked in a modern kitchen or over an open braai fire.
Each hut is unique in its exterior facade, but within, modern accommodation conveniences make your stay a comfortable and memorable one.
Every hut is en suite, has twin single beds, overhead fan, TV (local channels and shared satellite dish).
A writing desk is available in each hut should you wish to work on in the evening with a complimentary tea/coffee tray on hand.
Huts are serviced daily and laundry serviced on request.
In the grounds of the Ondini Cultural Museum the uMuzi has around the clock security and undercover parking for your vehicle.
In the shade of huge Amarula trees the uMuzi is laid out in true traditional Zulu fashion surrounding the " isibayo " (cattle enclosure) where our fully licensed and well stocked bar forms the centerpiece of our accommodation entertainment area.
In designing the uMuzi huts, Durban based architect Professor Rodney Harber of the University of KwaZulu-Natal took into account the diverse current styles of building used by traditional Zulu people throughout the Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal ensuring a true architectural reflection of the Zulu people.
Each hut has also been named after rivers in Zululand where the different building styles occur.
Although in a malaria free area mosquito's and other insects form part of our lives and each room is equipped with the necessary arsenal of repellents.
Given that the huts are adequately defended against the invasion of insects we respectfully request that you smoke outside.
All credit cards are accepted when paying through Sleeping-OUT.
