Gaste Kommentaar

For those interested in experiencing rural Swaziland this lodge is well located, a long way from the regular tourist traps. Sadly, however, the lodge was run-down to such an extent that we cut short our intended stay. We were a bit dismayed on arrival, anticipating a quiet rural retreat, to find loud music belting out from the bar. We were shown to our room by the housemaid, who used a mop to wipe up water all over the floor from a leaking toilet, which certainly wasn't a good welcome to the place. There was a TV, but there was no plug to plug it into a power socket, and here was no remote control for the air conditioning unit, so we were not able to operate it either. Even the most basic places I had stayed in provide a kettle to make hot water, but this place had no means to heat water. All of this kind of became irrelevant following a late afternoon storm. The power went out and never returned. After about four hours of sitting in the dark we were provided with a single candle. Whilst I don't blame the establishment for the loss of power, sitting in the dark wasn't much fun. At least the music had stopped and the toilet didn't leak any more (no electricity to work the pump). Of course no water for the shower the next morning - probably not such a bad thing as it was pretty filthy in any case. I have stayed in hundreds of budget establishments over the years, and I am sad to say this place rates as one of my worst experiences. Management needs to either clean the place up a bit or close it down. As it is, it is poor value for money.
