The Benoni Lake Golf Club and course has its location given away by its name. You’ll find it in the suburb of Lakefield in Benoni. Benoni in turn, is a town on Gauteng’s East Rand, just outside of Johannesburg.
The golf course and other facilities at this club are generally acknowledged to be of an excellent standard and both members and visitors leave feeling satisfied with their game of golf there. The course, which consists of the full 18 holes, is broken into 2 parts, divided by a road. The first 9 holes on the course can be deceptive given the distinct lack of water features, especially since the course is named Benoni Lake,however, across the road on the second set of holes, you will come across water features galore.
The course’s parkland style is pretty and tranquil, with smooth, well-maintained fairways dotted with numerous trees. It is pretty enough that even without water features, the first 9 holes (and the rest of the course for that matter) are more than pleasant to play.
The Benoni Lake Golf Club was established in 1952 and today boasts not only a great course, but also a large clubhouse,which overlooks the course and a serene pond.
Facilities at the club include a pro-shop with a pro on hand to answer your questions, a teaching pro, putting greens and a driving range for practice sessions and gear rental. There is also a bar,restaurant and halfway house where you can kick back after a round of golf, and the function facilities, which are available for hire are perfect for celebrating large events like birthday parties and weddings.
The Benoni Lake Golf Course is closed on Mondays (unless it’s a public holiday) and Christmas day, and visitors are welcome every day except for Saturdays.
