The Botshelong Empilweni Private Hospital was the premier hospital in the Clinix Health Group’s stable. It opened its doors to the South African public for the first time in 1994, and since then both the hospital and the Clinix group as a whole have expanded. Batshelong Empilweni Hospital is located at the entrance to Vosloorus township in the outskirts of Boksburg.
The Clinix Health Group is a small private hospital group in South Africa. It has hospitals in many of South Africa’s towns and cities in the interior, like Soweto, Johannesburg, Mafikeng and Phalaborwa. There are now 7 hospitals in the Clinix group but, as mentioned above, Botshelong Empilweni is the flagship facility.
The Clinix Health Group works closely with the government’s Department of Health, and a huge emphasis is placed on community upliftment, friendly service and expert, compassionate patient-care. There are 104 beds in the hospital, spread across numerous wards from general medical wards to intensive care units (including a neonatal intensive care unit). The hospital has 3 operating theatres and facilities for MRI and CAT scans as well as renal dialysis. There are an asthma and diabetes clinics too and a 24 hour emergency unit.
The hospital is staffed by professional, passionate staff and the network of doctors practise disciplines such as urology, psychiatry, paediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ear, nose & throat surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
The ancillary services at the hospital include dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, speech therapy and a pharmacy and coffee shop for patients and visitors.
