Mines Golf Club just, 6 kilometres south
west of Johannesburg and 2 kilometres from Gold Reef City Casino and Theme
Park is a great golfing facility boasting an 18-hole course as well as the
traditional bells and whistles that come with an established golf club.
The golf
course is a 6 837 metre long, par 72 rated course. It was designed by the one and only Gary Player, and built in 1967. It
provides a true challenge for any golfer,
whilst also being aesthetically pleasing.
It was
designed and laid out as parklands
course with bent grass on the greens and kikuyu grass on the fairways. The
course is home to a variety of bird
species due to its vast estuarine system and established trees. The Soccer
City stadium is also visible from most parts of the course, adding just one
more interesting aspect to it.
The halfway house at the club provides
refreshments and snacks for peckish players, while the pro shop on the premises
is well stocked with equipment and accessories. The club offers golf carts and pull trolleys for hire,
as well as golf clubs. There are also caddies
available to ensure a golf day of ease. The driving range and chipping greens are fantastic for working on your
swing and general form. The Crown Mines Golf Club really does offer everything
you could need.
The
clubhouse has a restaurant that
offers delicious meals for every meal of the day. There is also a fully stocked bar offering a number of
options of refreshments after a game.
The club is
open to visitors every day except for
Saturdays and has a fairly large
function
facility that can be hired out too.
