Accommodation near GrandWest Casino - 15

The GrandWest Casino complex in Cape Town is any parent’s go-to option for entertaining children, as well as any gambler’s first choice when it comes to hitting the slots or machines. GrandeWest is located on Vanguard Drive in Goodwood, a suburb north of the city centre and really is a one-stop shop. And one with plenty of parking!

Coming up to the entrance of the casino is a large water feature, passing it and entering the doors of GrandWest takes you into a different world. The casino floor takes centre stage – literally, with non-gamblers looking down onto the casino floor as they pass by on their way to other parts of the complex. The casino also steals the limelight because, with over 2500 slots, it is considered the largest casino in South Africa. With such a vast number of machines comes a variety of games suitable for different pockets and personality types. There are of course also numerous tables with all the usual games like poker, roulette and black jack.

Gambling is only open to people over the age of 18, but that shouldn’t stop you bringing your children to GrandWest. Apart from the Nu Metro cinema, you can let children (or yourself) blow off some steam on the ice-rink – an especially vibe-y place to be on a weekend night.

The complex also offers 10-pin bowling, mini-golf, a go-karting track and a Magic Company arcade. Finally, a mini fun fair, complete with rides, entertains even the most stubborn of children.

The casino wouldn’t be complete without at least some space devoted to retail and shopaholics can indulge their obsession at numerous outlets selling all manner of things from clothes to tobacco. At the end of the day, when everyone, from gamblers to shoppers and hyper-active children, is hungry GrandWest’s restaurant options won’t disappoint. You can try Spur, Wang Thai or the classier Union Castle Club among other eateries. As you’re eating you can discuss which concerts you’d like to see next at the Grande Arena, GrandeWest’s concert venue, before ending your day and heading home.
